Iconic German auto maker Volkswagen first launched the ‘Passat’, a large family car in the year 1973. Since then it has gone through several generation changes. The current generation is the eighth generation and the model number is B8. ‘Passat’ has the distinction of being one of the most successful car models of all time and finds itself in the list of 10 top selling cars. The current generation of the ‘Passat’ that is on sale in Europe market is built on VW’s acclaimed MQB platform. However the German brand is ready to expand the model range and has introduced a new hybrid variant called the ‘VW Passat GTE’. The official public appearance will take place at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. Ahead of the release VW has revealed detailed information about the car. The model is called ‘Passat GTE’, the ‘GTE’ indicating the plug-in hybrid nature, peachy clean austin as seen in ‘Golf GTE’. Like the outside, the inside too has been changed in some places. The makers have taken effort to match the interior with the drive system. Volkswagen has claimed that the car will consume fuel on an average of 2 liter for every 100 km or 141 miles with each gallon. The Co2 emission is also on the lower side with 45 g per km. With a full tank and full charge ,the car can travel up to 1000 km or 622 miles. Under eight seconds it can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph( 100 km). The top speed of the car is 220 km (137 miles ) per hour.

The Indian division of famous German manufacturer has brought to the country, a top of the range variant of the Q3 luxury SUV, called the ‘Dynamic’. The model will have to compete against BMW X1 and the soon to be released ‘Mercedes GLA’. German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz (division of Daimler AG) is one of the most reputed and best-selling car brands in the world. Last year, the face lifted ‘E-Class’ sedan was launched in India with 4-cylinder engines. But after seeing a strong demand for a more powerful engine in the Indian market, Mercedes has finally launched the 2014 model year ‘E350 CDI’ with a new engine. The front fascia of the face lifted model has a bold looking front grille and single headlamps with double LED units.
The biggest talking point from the latest ‘E350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY’ is a V6 3.0-litre turbo diesel engine that gives an output of 258 BHP power and a segment topping torque of 620 Nm. After months of wait Suzuki India has finally launched the ‘Gixxer 155’, its flagship motorcycle. Priced very competitively, this is the second effort from the Japanese manufacturer in the 150cc segment. The new ‘Gixxer’ has a sporty engine, and great styling that can make it a hot property. India is a huge market for two-wheelers and it is given importance by the world’s top manufacturers of motorcycles. Japanese manufacturer Suzuki, one of the world’s best known motorcycle manufacturers has decided to launch the new ‘Gixxer’ in the Indian market. The new offering is a vital bike for Suzuki’s India division. The ‘Gixxer’ can help Suzuki to become stronger in the two-wheeler market. Till now the company was only focusing and working on scooters. Its previous bike the ‘GS150R’ did not do well in the 150cc bike segment. As result the company is heavily depending on the ‘Gixxer’. It will have to compete against the likes of the ageing but top selling, Bajaj Pulsar, the new updated Yamaha FZ 2.0, the CB Trigger from Honda, the Apache RTR 160 from TVS and the Hero Xtreme . Suzuki has already started to take bookings from buyers and will start delivering immediately after the launch.
It is going to be the flagship product of Suzuki in the Indian market. The launch of the ‘Gixxer 155’ will be on 10th of August. According to the Suzuki the chassis and the engine of the new bike has been developed by the engineers who were behind the famous GSX-R series of motorcycles. Powering the new ‘Suzuki Gixxer’ will be a single-cylinder 150cc air-cooled, SOHC engine with around 13.9 BHP of power and torque of 13.4 Nm. It is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The bike has telescopic fork suspension at the front, while the rear wheel gets a mono-shock suspension setup. The front wheel features a powerful disc brake while a drum brake setup has been given to the rear wheel. Earlier this year Ford had revealed plans for the launch of a redesigned version of the popular ‘Figo’ hatchback. The American manufacturer also revealed the KA (another badge for the Figo) hatchback in some markets. Now the reports have been proven true as Ford has launched the new version of the ‘Figo’ in the Brazilian market. Ford sells the hatchback as the ‘KA’ in Brazil. It is available in two variants SE and SEL.
The new ‘KA’ hatchback will also be released by Ford as the 2015 model year Figo in India, replacing the current model. it is expected that the American manufacturer will launch it by early 2015. The release of a ‘Figo’ sedan is also in the plans.
Ford has provided the new car with a 3 cylinder 1.0-litre petrol engine. It can produce peak torque of 107 Nm and max power of 85 bhp. The engine has been paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a front wheel drive. However it remains to be seen whether Ford provides only a cosmetic makeover to the Indian edition or a mechanical change as well. The 2015 ‘Ford Figo’ has been inspired by the ‘Figo’ concept that was showcased at this year’s Auto Expo in New Delhi.

The compact MPV ‘Ertiga’ (means Swift with three rows in Indonesian language) was first launched in 2012, first in India and then in Indonesia. In the Indian market it competed with cars like- Mahindra Xylo, Tata Sumo Grande, and Toyota Innova. It was based on the Suzuki Swift platform and powered by a K-Series petrol/ Fiat Multijet engine. This month (July 2014) Maruti Suzuki took the decision to introduce the car for the export market. It also launched a limited edition version of the ‘Ertiga’ to celebrate the sale of 1.50 Lakh units in India. The limited edition model will be available with petrol, diesel as well as CNG powertrain.
Maruti Suzuki released an official statement saying, “This is in line with the company’s vision to offer product differentiation to customers who aspire for features over and above the product strengths of high fuel efficiency, interior comfort, ease of driving and flexi seating,”. Manohar Bhat, VP of marketing, Maruti Suzuki India said: “The new Ertiga Limited Edition, with a sleek chrome grille, plush interiors, aesthetically designed spoilers with classy body graphics and decals is a tasteful product…The additional features on the Ertiga Limited Edition highlight the company’s focus on product differentiation for the customer…Limited editions help us strengthen the brand and enhance the overall appeal of the car… Overall, we have sold over 150,000 units in domestic market. Ertiga was the fastest to achieve this milestone in B segment. Customers have appreciated the Ertiga for its compact size, contemporary looks, ergonomic design and the flexibility of 5+2 seating.”
The models will come with the new Pearl Blaze Blue body color option and the previously available superior white and silky silver metallic colors.
