The car was given its official release in South Korea few months ago. In India, the outgoing sixth generation was sold from 2012. The car was praised for its ‘fluidic sculpture’ looks, good tech features and a powerful engine. But the latest generation of Hyundai Sonata promises to be more refined and mature in style and more features heavy than its predecessor.
While the previous generation ‘Sonata’ was great looking, it had some overflowing bodylines which would not appeal to some up-market buyers. There is a new trapezoidal grille and sweptback headlights on the front and a new bumper with integrated LED DRL’s. The rear has been kept simple with clean tapered lines and premium looking tail lights. The roofline has been designed to make the 2015 Sonata a bit sportier than before. 51 percent of the body is constructed from high strength steel, making the car lighter than before. The interior layout has a touch of sophistication and the cabin is packed with features. The steering wheel is multi functional and other notable features include 8-inch touch screen display for infotainment, Bluetooth, USB, AUX and Smartphone connectivity, voice recognition etc.
As of now, no major change in the engine department has been made. The ‘Audi A3’ was originally launched in 1996 as a compact car. Currently in its third generation, it has won several awards over the years. The sedan version was first unveiled at the 2013 New York Auto Show. With the market for luxury cars growing steadily in India, Audi has planned to launch the ‘A3 Sedan’ in India by 2015. With fellow German rivals launching new cars like the Mercedes A class and B class and the BMW 1 series, the segment will be seeing tough competition. As per reports, along with the sedan, hatchback andcabriolet versions will also be launched in 2015.
Although it carries the mark of signature Audi sedan designs, this new car looks more attractive because of its compact size, almost perfect proportions and the edgy headlight cluster. The front bumper has been added with air vents and chin guard. On the rear, you get sleek taillight clusters, glossy bumper and twin exhaust pipes with chrome plating. The side profile of the sedan is also extremely elegant, thanks to the chrome around the window sills and the stylish wheel design. The interior is also very well built with fine materials. The all black color scheme, leather seats, frequent use of chrome on the steering wheel, door handles, gear knobs and AC vents give the inside a very premium feel.

The Ford Fiesta is one of Ford’s best selling cars in history, selling over 16 million units since its launch in 1976. At present the model is in its sixth generation. Ford has given the car a facelift for 2014. The car is available in both sedan as well as hatchback body-style. In India the car was first launched in 2011 as a sedan and was successful. However, in recent years sales of the model has dipped. To bring the model back on track Ford has added some India specific features to the ‘2014 Ford Fiesta’ as buyers in India often have different preferences than their European and American counterparts.
There have been significant changes in the front fascia with the addition of the large hexagonal grille with chrome slats, new headlamp design/ fog lamp housing and lower air intakes. The appearance of the car is now much more stately and classy than before. The ‘bulge’ in the hood adds a sportier look to the car. Nothing much has been done to the sides except chrome molding and new wheel arch design. The bulky rear of the car has been carefully masked. The added lip on the boot lid has an aerodynamic function. The tail lamps are wider than before and the bumper is given a chrome strip. The external changes on the car are not just for appearance but helps with the aerodynamics. Designers have also worked on the underbody of the car to reduce drag and increase fuel efficiency. There are six choices of body color. The ‘Panther Black’, ‘Moondust Silver’, ‘Diamond White’ and ‘Red Paprika’ colors have been continued from the previous offering while two new body colors have been added- ‘Smoke Grey’ and ‘Golden Bronze’.
Inside, the car feels more spacious than its predecessor and the reason for that is the new dual tone color combination of the interior. Inner door handles and the central console now sport piano black accents. Other than these, everything else has remained more or less unchanged than the last edition. The central console has the 3.7 inch screen while the automatic AC is very easy to operate. The steering wheel and the instrument cluster have a nice, sporty feel to it. The seats have been built with comfortable fabrics. The seatbelts are height adjustable and so is the driver seat. The cabin is much quieter than the last model with the use of insulation material.
In India, the new ‘Ford Fiesta’ will be initially offered only with a diesel engine. The company is ready to introduce petrol engine if the demand arises. The new car will continue to have the engine of the last model. The 1.5 liter four cylinder TDCI engine gives an output of 90 BHP and torque of 104 Nm. There is a 5-speed gearbox paired with the engine. While the output has been kept the same, Ford claims to have made the engine more fuel efficient. The new car will be able to deliver 25.01 KMPL instead of the older 23.5 KMPL. In India, fuel efficiency is very important and the new Ford claims to have the best mileage in the segment.

Toyota Corolla has consistently been one of the best selling cars in the world. The makers have regularly updated the car over the years to keep it interesting. It was one of the cars that helped Toyota do good in the huge Indian car market. But since its launch in 2003, it has been quite a long time that the model has seen any upgrades. Some of the other models that Toyota released in India in recent years have not done very well. So Toyota is finally launching the 2014 edition of the Corolla Altis to improve on its current position. The new model will not be a simple facelift but will feature significant changes. At the upcoming New Delhi International Auto Expo, the new ‘Corolla Altis’ is slated to make an appearance. The car on display will be a model with European specifications but a model with Indian specs will be available for sale here. This is the third generation Corolla in India and the eleventh generation overall. With all its segment rivals update due next year, Toyota has launched the car at a perfect time.
The design on the new car is based on the new ‘Keen Look’ style design introduced by Toyota. While the earlier designs were more ‘sedate’, the new design is more bold and sleek. The new swept back styled headlamps merge into the front grille. The front light cluster now features a LED insert. The front bumper has a more sculptured look and has very prominent air intake. The bonnet and the grille too have sharper lines. The side profile of the car has also changed thanks to the 80-mm length increase. The design of the rear has similarity with the rear of the Toyota Camry sedan. The rear lighting features LED tail lights with integrated fog lamps. All four wheels of the car have been given very flared arches and the doors have been made forward sloping on the side. There is abundance in the body color section. A buyer can chose from no less than seven color options- ‘Celestial Black’, ‘Champagne Mica Metallic’, ‘Blue Metallic’, ‘White Pearl Crystal Shine’, ‘Super White II’, ‘Silver Mica Metallic’ and ‘Grey Metallic’.
On the inside, one realizes that the designers must have spent a good deal of time putting the interior together. Just like the outside it is refined and sleek. The interior has dual color (beige and black) tone. The dashboard of the car has three separate horizontal parts. The steering wheel now has a three spoke design and has a very premium feel. Because of the increased length of the car, the interior has more space. However to boot space is reduced by 5 liters and it now has 470-litres of capacity. The buyer can also avail the option of adding leather touches to the interior. A completely new seat feature is introduced in this car. The main rear seats can now be reclined individually. The central console now has an advanced touch screen infotainment system. Altogether the new interior looks and feels much more elegant than before.
On the engine section there has not been any major changes. The new Toyota ‘Corolla Altis’ is available in both petrol and diesel engines. The diesel engine is a 1.4-litre, D-4D turbo charged one that can produce around 88 horsepower and torque of 205 Nm. The petrol engine on the other hand is a 1.8-litre, 4-cylinder VVT-I that can create power of 139 BHP and 173 Nm torque. The standard transmission is a 6 speed manual but for the petrol engine, one can chose a seven speed CVT gearbox.
